The community center is inspired by the amoeba, a simple yet complex asymmetrical organism, functioning as an independent structure within San Diego’s larger urban network. Its adaptable, organic form spans two blocks, integrates the research center as its “nutrient,” and bridges over Broadway while keeping the boulevard active.

The program spans two vertical blocks and is designed to inspire imagination, creativity, and engagement through three main components. These include a private research center, a large community center with cultural, educational, and public spaces, and outdoor elements such as an amphitheater and a mix of real and digital gardens.
